Treatment

Treatment options for RSIs range from surgery, to anti-inflammatory drugs, to physical therapy, to massage therapy and Hellerwork. Different people have had varying degrees of success with all of these treatment protocols. It is a difficult and individual decision to find the treatment modality you feel most comfortable with and most hopeful about.

Many variables such as duration of injury, site of injury, condition of affected tissues, and a persons general health influence which treatment option will be most successful.

Check with your Doctor before starting any treatment program

Massage Therapy: Massage therapy can be helpful to reduce tension and stress in the body. If the work is targeted to RSI related structures, symptoms can be relieved.

Hellerwork: Hellerwork is designed to release chronic tension and restore alignment and balance in the body. A holistic three-part system utilizing deep-tissue bodywork, movement education, and dialogue to address the mind, body, and spirit. Learn more about Hellerwork.

Physical therapy: Since RSIs are considered a soft-tissue condition; physical therapy can be used as a treatment modality. RSI Solutions believes there are good progressive physical therapy groups who offer effective treatment protocols for RSIs. However, many of the more traditional groups focus too much on strengthening muscles that are already too tight and too damaged to respond to such treatment.

Surgery: The surgical procedures are different for each RSI. Additionally, no surgery is without risk, nor should it be undertaken lightly. RSI Solutions believes that surgery focuses on a narrow area of symptom relief and not with the larger perspective of whole body causal factors, education, and prevention.

Anti-inflammatory drugs: Anti-inflammatory drugs reduce inflammation and swelling in joint capsules, muscle tissue, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels. RSI Solutions believes that anti-inflammatory drugs can act as a band-aid, masking the real causal factors. Dangerous side effects to these drugs make them an even less attractive treatment option.
